5 New Ways To Use Subway Tile
Jun 21st 2024
In our humble opinion, white subway tile will always be a classic. If, however, you love this look but want to freshen it up a bit we've got some ideas for you!
NOTE: While we're no longer producing subway tile, if you're looking for something similar you might check out Fireclay Tile as well as Bedrosians.
1. Change How You Install It
While the majority of subway tile is installed in the traditional offset pattern (shown below), there are tons of other patterns you could use.
Herringbone is one of our favorites. It's a great way to add movement and interest to your backsplash.
Or, try installing your offset pattern vertically and make your space instantly look more modern.
2. Add Decorative Tile
A great way to add interest to a subway tile is to mix it with decorative tile. Whether it's a niche over the oven range or a border in a shower surround, it doesn't take much decorative tile to make a big impact.

3. Try A Crackle Glaze
Being the tile nerds that we are, we've got a soft spot for crackle glazes and think they look really pretty on subway tile.
4. Mix Your Colors & Finishes
Why choose just one finish when you could pick three? Here we used similar color tones, but with three different finishes: a crackle, a satin, and a gloss.
5. Dress It Up With Pearls
I'm sorry to annouce we've sold the last of our Pearl Liner trim shown below. I'll update this space if I find something similar from another manufacturer. Sorry to crush any Pearl Liner dreams!
