Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION & CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for your order of Julep Tile! The following suggestions will help ensure you enjoy our product in your home for many years to come:

INSPECTION:

First and foremost, please INSPECT THE PRODUCT IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT for damaged or missing material. Any issues regarding the shipment must be reported within 5 business days. No claims will be honored after installation.

INSTALLATION:

As with any handmade tile, slight color and size variations may occur. To achieve a uniform look once installed, first un-package all tile and mix the pieces well.

We recommend using a SANDED GROUT. Sanded grout is ideal for tile patterns like ours that have larger areas of exposed grout. We like MAPEI’s Keracolor line of sanded grout (available at Lowe’s) in White and Biscuit (off-white).

DAMASK PATTERN: When installing this pattern, please note that the Damask design is not symmetrical pattern (i.e. there is a right way and a wrong way up) Make sure they are all oriented in the same direction when installing.

SEALING YOUR TILES:

We highly recommend using a high-quality sealant on all of our tiles, but the application technique varies slightly depending on the glaze type.

  • Sealing Satin & Crackle Tiles

We strongly recommend that a light coat of a good penetrating sealer be applied individually to each tile before grouting. A second coat of the penetrating sealer should be applied again to the tiles and grout after installation. The purpose of sealing the tiles twice is to prevent potential stains from penetrating. Any unsealed tile has a chance of staining. After installation, we recommend applying a sealant to the tiles and grout annually.

  • Sealing Glossy Tiles:

We strongly recommend applying a good penetrating sealer to all tiles and grout after installation. Moving forward, we recommend applying a sealant to the tiles and grout annually.

MAINTENANCE:

Some wearing and scratching of the glaze surface over time is expected. Do not use an abrasive scouring pad when cleaning the tile and avoid harsh cleaning products.
