Tile Production

For the first 15 years of business, Julep Tile was handmade in-house in our Colorado studio. Starting in 2025, our tile is now being produced by another artisan manufacturer in the US. This manufacturer is also dedicated to creating quality, handmade tile. However, please note that the sizes and colors are different than they were previously. Julep Tile Company highly recommends ordering new samples if yours were purchased before August, 2025.

Lead Times and Shipping

All our tile is made to order. Please call us or check the website for the most accurate lead time information. Generally speaking, lead times run approximately 6 weeks but that can vary depending on the manufacturer’s production schedule. Lead times are a best estimate on production time, not taking transit time into consideration.

Although we do our very best to ship the order within the time range provided, purchaser understands that Julep Tile Company nor our manufacturer is not guaranteeing the order will be shipped on that date.

We ship UPS Ground for smaller orders and will send a tracking email as soon as your order ships. Larger orders will ship via pallet on LTL freight (with liftgate for residential delivery if needed). Please check the product page for the order size that requires LTL shipment, and keep in mind that ordering smaller amounts of several different products may still require LTL shipping.

Delivery may be delayed or prevented by events beyond the reasonable control of Julep Tile Company or its manufacturing partner, including but not limited to strikes, labor disputes, riots, war, weather, fire, carrier delays or defaults, supply shortages, government orders, or similar causes. Neither Julep Tile Company nor its manufacturing partner shall be liable for any loss or damage resulting from such events. In such cases, Julep Tile Company (or its manufacturing partner) may, at its option, cancel an order in whole or in part, with the sole obligation of refunding any advance payments for merchandise that will not be delivered. Any deliveries not in dispute must still be paid for, regardless of other pending issues or undelivered merchandise.

Returns

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS. All orders are custom made; therefore there are no returns for tiles that are incorrectly ordered, no returns for overage and no cancellation under any circumstances.

Color Variation, Sizing, and Crazing

Variations in color and size are part of what makes handmade tile beautiful and should be expected.  Purchaser accepts that variations exist.

CRACKLE GLAZES: Purchaser understands that glazes from our Crackle collections tend to have higher than normal levels of color variation. These glazes also may craze over time and are not advised for floors or wet areas. Crazing is a natural process in which small cracks develop in the glaze surface.

FLUID GLAZES: Crackle size on Fluid glazed tiles vary from tile to tile. Sometimes the cracks are different within the same production and there are times that some tiles do not crack at all. The fluid glaze moves a lot during production firing, the tiles acquire a beautiful "aged" look, resulting in color variations from tile to tile. Fluid tiles must be sealed. Fluid tiles are not recommended for wet areas or floors.

Crackle and Fluid tiles should be sealed to prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. This process should be repeated from time to time after installation.

We do our best to represent the color as accurately as possible in our photos but purchaser understands that there may be some variation between the color of the photo and the actual tile.

There also may be some variation between sample tiles and tile ordered for installation.

Inspection and Samples

Purchaser shall have the right to inspect the goods upon delivery. Inspection and acceptance by purchaser shall be final and failure to inspect and/or reject the goods shall be deemed acceptance of the item so delivered.

Any samples provided to purchaser before placing this order were for the sole purpose of suggesting the character of the goods. Purchaser acknowledges that due to the nature of handcrafted tiles, they may be irregular in shape, size, dimension, texture and color. Julep Tile Company does not warrant that goods ordered and delivered will conform to any such sample shown to buyer.

Claims

Any claims for breakage, short shipment, misdelivery or defects in merchandise must be made in writing to the deliverer of the merchandise at the time of delivery. If no claim is made, the right to make such claim shall be deemed waived. Claims must be made within 5 working days after receipt of the merchandise. Claims for product defects, or shipping damages must be made within 5 working business days upon receipt. Please inspect your shipment immediately. Installation of material constitutes acceptance.

Application

Tiles are suitable for wall applications and low traffic floor areas (master bathroom floors, upstairs bathroom floors, etc.). Crackle and Fluid glazes are not recommended for floor use or any wet areas.

Order Overage

We want to make sure your installation goes as smoothly as possible. We highly recommend adding a minimum of 15% overage to your tile order to ensure every part of your installation is covered. Any tile that’s left over can be saved for minor repairs down the road or contribute to other home projects.

Add-On Orders

While we will do our best to make our glaze colors as consistent as possible, ordering extra tile after you have already received your order is not guaranteed to match the color/size of the original order. Quantity minimums and current lead times apply to add-on orders.

Installation

Julep Tile Company is in no way be responsible for the installation or finishing of the goods. No claims can be made after the tiles are installed. Installation and/or use of the merchandise by the purchaser shall constitute an irrevocable acceptance of the merchandise.

Dislaimer of Express and Implied Warranties

Julep Tile Company and its manufacturing partner make no implied warranties of any kind. Julep Tile Company and its manufacturing partner shall in no way be responsible for the tile wear or tile breakage which may occur during or after the installation of the tile. Although glazed tile has a hard surface, it is not wear resistant and is not guaranteed to be wear resistant. Crazing is a characteristic of many glazed ceramic tiles and is not a defect in the tile. Food and other acids may cause etching if allowed to remain on a glazed surface. Prompt clean up of spills should prevent this. Color matching of material is restricted to currently available production items or material that is existing in inventory. No installer, dealer, distributor, or employee of Julep Tile Company and its manufacturing partner has authority to modify the obligations or limitations of this warranty.
