Top Tile Trends for 2019

Top Tile Trends for 2019

Oct 3rd 2018

With 2019 just around the corner, today we're talking about kitchen and bathroom tile trends for the upcoming year.

To help us with this task, we consulted with color expert Michelle Marceny of The Color Concierge. If you don't know Michelle, she can transform a dated room into bright, inviting space you'll never want to leave... just by changing the paint color! Don't believe us? Check out this laundry room makeover here.

To best illustrate tile trends for 2019, Michelle and Julep Tile Co-Owner Kirsten Sharp collaborated on a series of photos pairing tile with cabinets, countertops, and wall colors.

They met at Kitchens By Wedgewood where they picked a variety of cabinet and countertop samples. If you're not familiar, Kitchens By Wedgewood makes a gorgeous line of cabinets right here in Colorado and graciously allowed us borrow samples for the photo shoot.

Without further ado, here are our top tile trends for 2019!

1. Bold Color

If you love color, embrace it! We're seeing bold pops of color in kitchen and bathroom design and we're pretty excited about it. We especially love the vibrant blue on this cabinet door, and the way it complements the Two-Color Bloom backsplash tile in Blue-Gray & Light Blue Watercolor. For a wall color to complete this look, we recommend Sherwin Williams Zircon.

Tile Trend #2 - Modern Farmhouse

If you're looking for a cozy, comfortable space, this may be the look for you! Modern farmhouse kitchens and bathrooms have been popular for a few years now, but this is one trend that seems to be holding strong. For our own version of this look, we blended a rustic UltraCraft cabinet with an elegant Damask handmade tile in Glossy White. A simple white countertop and Benjamin Moore Classic Gray wall color complete this sweet design.

Tile Trend #3 - Black Is The New Gray

While gray has been a hot color for a few years now, word on the street is that is that black may be giving it a run for its money. We chose black cabinets in the photo below, and added some black in the backsplash to coordinate. Shown here is our Two-Color Hiser handmade tile in Slate Gray & Black Watercolor

Design Tip: To keep this look from feeling too dark and heavy, be sure to add a contrasting lighter color in your space. We choose crisp, white countertops and Sherwin Williams Westhighland White for the walls for just this reason.

Tile Trend #4 - Beige is Back

Depending on where you are in the country, gray has been a hot color for a few years now. We love gray and think it will always be a classic color, but there's a growing taste for warmer colors again. This Two-Color Cobham tile in Cream and Wheat is a great example of how to warm up your space, and we paired it here with a soft white cabinet. To complete the look, we chose Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan for the wall color and added a simple white countertop.

Which Tile Trend Is Right For You?

While tile and color trends may come and go, in our opinion the best way to pick tile for your kitchen or bathroom is to trust your gut. What colors do you love? What kind of space makes you happy?

And if you need help, call us! We love talking with clients about their projects.
